That is unlikely to happen Casemiro play before Christmas after suffering a muscle injury in the first half of the game Manchester United lost 3-0 against Newcastle in the League Cup last week. United had initially said he would be out of action for “a few weeks” but yesterday, Tuesday, Erik ten Hag gave more clarity on how long Casemiro would take to recover.
Speaking ahead of the Red Devils’ Champions League match against Copenhagen on Wednesday, the Dutch coach said Casemiro (and Lisandro Martínez, who has a foot injury) were facing “a very difficult situation”. He added: “I don’t expect them to be back before Christmas.”
United have ten games in all competitions between now and Christmas and are also without injured defenders Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. “I have some idea of timelines, but it’s always difficult to project recovery times because there can always be setbacks during rehabilitation.”
United called up Victor Lindelöf and Marcus Rashford against Copenhagen, who missed Saturday’s game against Fulham due to illness and a leg problem, respectively. Ten Hag said “100% they are.”
