The ATP has risen to category 500 the contests of Dallas, Doha and Munich and will be removed from the calendar in 2025 250 from Atlanta, Lyon and Newport. These promotions will expand the ATP 500 category from 13 to 16 tournaments throughout the season.
The cities of Dallas, Doha and Munich join a list of contests that includes Acapulco, Barcelona, Basel, Beijing, Dubai, Halle, Hamburg, London, Rio de Janeiro, Rotterdam, Tokyo, Vienna and Washington DC
The changes also coincide with improvements in the ATP category Masters 1000, with seven of the nine tournaments taking place over 12 days from 2025.
With the elimination of Newport, one of the most curious tournaments on the calendar comes to an end, as it will be held at the headquarters of the Tennis Hall of Fame and is the only grass tournament played after Wimbledon.
The full 2025 schedule will be announced in the coming months and may include an official tournament in Saudi Arabia, because the country is working to get a license, which could be in Madrid or Miami, to hold a Masters 1,000.
