Canada advanced to the semifinals thanks to its victory over Poland

Canada added this victory, which will be scored regardless of the tie-breaking double, to Wednesday’s 0-3 win over Spain, who will face the Poles on Friday to determine which team finishes second in the group. C.

Junior Marina Stakusic followed the line drawn on Wednesday in her resounding victory over Spaniard Rebeka Masarova and defeated Magdalena Frech, who nevertheless scored the first set 4-6 and had a break advantage in the second, who came to dominate 2-4.

Stakusic came back to 5-4, wasted two set points to score the set in the tenth game, finally won the twelfth and dominated the third set from the first break to pocket it 6-3.

In the first set of second singles, Leylah Fernández imposed her hierarchy against Magda Linette, who was broken in her first three turns of service and ended up leaning 6-2 with a return that she sent beyond the baseline.

Fernández broke Linette’s serve in the first game of the second set and kept the distance without giving up any break points to her opponent, misreading the various serves of the North American left-hander, settling for against another break in the ninth game (6-3).
