The first official day of the Spanish Gran Turismo and Endurance Championship started this Saturday at the Jerez-Ángel Nieto Circuit, the penultimate scoring event for one of the most interesting motorsport events on the Spanish scene. For this occasion, the event also includes the participation of the always colorful and competitive single-make categories of Racer Cup and Saxo 8v Cup.
Iván Parera (Renault) and Dieter Svepes (Porsche) were fastest at the same time for the GT competition, while in the CER it was Miguel Gómez (BMW) and Miguel Angel Romero (Cupra). For his part, Q1 in the TCR category was awarded to Enric Bordas aboard a Cupra with a time of 1.53.190. For his part, in the Saxo 8V Cup, Iván Riera with 2.19.955 set the pace in hour 1, compared to the 2.20.346 established by Antonio Albacete as the best mark in hour 2 of this Cup. Finally, in the Ang Racer Cup, Marta Suria led both practice sessions, setting a time of 2.09.496 in the first, while in the second her best time was 2.09.280.
The first race scheduled for the afternoon is the spectacular Gran Turismos. 21 cars on the grid for a start that, as usual in this type of test, was a fast one, with Parera leading from the first steps to start setting a ferocious pace in the race established in 48 minutes with a lap to do. the test, except for laps 14 and 15 when they stopped in the pits to formalize the change of drivers. At that moment, they were replaced in the lead by Kapfinger-Chinchilla, who after three laps was overtaken again by Pareras-Smet who in this way could reach the leaders of the finish line alone, since then Kapfinger- Chinchilla duo in favor of Joan Vinyes (Porsche) who was able to reach second position which she will keep until the end of the test. Third place went to Martins-Svepes (Porsche). By category, Bay-Aso won the GPR and the Juan Fernández Trophy, as did Vinyes in the PC class. Pareras-Smets did this in addition to the general classification in the GPX class.
In the Racer Cup, 14 drivers took part in the test, among them, the famous Spanish actor Miguel Angel Muñoz who had the opportunity throughout the season to participate as a driver in other circuits, although this was the first filmmaking opportunity in Jerez.
