Spanish motorcycling reached Sepang this Sunday thanks to the contribution of Pedro Acosta the number of 58 world titles shared by 24 drivers. In this sense, there is no new champion in Spain since Acosta added his second crown in just three years in the World Championship to what he achieved in 2021 in Moto3.
Acosta joins the two-time championship club consisting of Ricardo Tormo, Sito Pons, Àlex Crivillé, Àlex Márquez and Joan Mir. He is the fourth Spanish rider to come to MotoGP as champion of the previous two categories after Dani Pedrosa, Marc Márquez and Àlex Márquez.
