Porto’s extraordinary general meeting was suspended at midnight on Monday in the Dragao Arena pavilion as a result of serious incidents that occurred during it. After being paralyzed on several occasions by physical confrontations, with fights and attacks, between some sectors of the 5,000 members in attendance, the meeting was finally adjourned until a week from now, on November 20.
“One of the darkest days in Porto’s history. This is a disgrace, an unscrupulous organization, which has no respect for the members of this great club. On November 20 we will try again, Porto needs to find itself in the principles and values it has, what happened should not and will not happen again,” lamented the Portuguese coach after attending the meeting event. André Villas-Boas, former coach of the ‘dragoes’ and candidate for the club’s presidency.
Villas-Boas denounced that “the images we saw, of a 19-year-old boy, who was probably deprived of his right to vote, crying and ashamed for his club, are a reflection of the situation we are experiencing . We are hostages. of a guard praetorian who continues to threaten some members of FC Porto. Deep reflection is needed. All this, according to the coach, in front of the club’s management who are watching all something “undaunted and serene.”
Villas-Boas is asking the Portuguese authorities to investigate “the attacks and acts of barbarism that took place last night” and recounted a series of irregularities, “from expired credentials that should not have been processed to the presence of non-members of FC Porto, to a total logistical disorganization, seen in the transfer of a room that could not accept all club. members who go to Dragão Arena…”.
Finally, Villas-Boas said that the meeting next Monday “must be held with the membership card of FC Porto, with the presentation of the citizen’s card, in the most orderly and safe way possible to express freely by people what they think about the proposal to change the laws”.
