Salva Ferrer, Catalan right back currently playing for Anorthosis in Cyprus on loan from Italian club Spezia, announced today through social networks that at 25 years old he suffers from Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of cancer which develops in the lymphatic system. .
“It is not easy to write this message, but from now on I want to convey the positive to you. I have been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and in the next few weeks I will start treatment. Although I cannot deny that it has been a huge blow to me and my family, the prognosis is positive and I hope to have a speedy recovery so I can get back to playing and enjoying myself as soon as possible. It is clear to me that fear is useless in fighting this disease ,” Salva Ferrer wrote on Instagram with a photo of him on the pitch.
In the comments of his post, Ferrer added in Catalan: “There will be no more stones in the way.”
Spezia, a club with its rights, quickly expressed its support: “Come, Save, you are with us.”
