The venue, which was inaugurated a few days ago, continues to gather activity in the future as the 2026 Junior World Cup is also scheduled to be held there and will also seek to host this international event in the senior category in 2030.
It will also be the start of the European road championship time trial in 2024 and, nearby, the continental BMX racing event will take place in 2027.
“We have enjoyed a close collaboration with Heusden-Zolder for many years, especially in BMX, and the creation of the new complex will help strengthen our connection to one of the European territories where the passion and culture of cycling is deeply rooted,” indicated Enrico Della Casa, president of the UEC, in a statement from this entity.
“We have put together a four-year program of high-level events that will bring many benefits to the region and to our sport in terms of promotion, economic benefits and visibility, creating and strengthening close relations between of sport, tourism and economic development,” he added. .
For his part, Tom van Damme, president of the Belgian federation, commented: “With the new track in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium finally has an innovative place to host important international championships. We are proud that the UEC has chosen the circuit of the province of Limburg to host this important European championship”.
