The Dutch Joris Nieuwenhuis (Baloise Trek Lions) achieved his first victory in a test of Cyclocross World Cup by imposing its own Sunday on the snow of Val di Sole (Italy), in a race that, in the women’s category, was won by her compatriot Manon Bakker.
Nieuwenhuis dominated the race from the start, when he launched an attack at the end of the first lap that allowed him to open a gap to the other runners, who could not catch him throughout the course.
The Dutch cyclist completed the twenty-one kilometer route in 1:00.19 and was more than a minute ahead of his immediate pursuers, Belgian Niels Vandeputte and Joran Wyseure, second and third, respectively.
