Fernando Alonso He smiled again behind the wheel of a F1. After years of battling uncompetitive cars at ‘Great Circus’ and after his departure to head towards the Endurance World Cup and the Dakarhe once again had a car in which he would continue to fight for podiums at the beginning of the year in his first year at Aston Martin. He took advantage of this perfectly to get 6 boxes in the first 8 races. Then, with the green team’s progress stagnating, he managed to win two more and maximized his car’s results and performance until he sealed his 4th place in the Drivers’ World Championship.
Alonso went from 9th in the World Cup in 2022 to 4th in 2023with massive solvency and consistency in points making him the driver who won the most points compared to last year of the entire F1 grid.
Fernando Alonso scored a total of 81 points in 2022 with an Alpine that suffered from numerous reliability problems. Meanwhile, this course added 206 points to the total. That’s an increase of 125 points.
Second on the list is Max Verstappen. His dominance was huge, much more than in 2022 and he achieved 454 points last year, while in 2023 he conquered 575 with 19 wins out of 21 possible. That means, Max added 121 points compared to last year, 4 less than the growth experienced by Fernando Alonso.
The third on the list is Oscar Piastri, although with a ‘trap’, because in 2022 he did not drive in F1. In his first year in the ‘Great Circus’, with McLaren, he scored 97 points. Lando Norris, also with the team Movingexperienced an increase of 83 points.
The rise of Lance Stroll is remarkable. With the same car as Alonso, despite the massive improvement in the green car compared to last year, he added only 56 more points than those achieved in 2022.
