There’s a line to join Jon Rahm at LIV Golf: “My phone is blowing up”

Date:

ESPN and the BBC interviewed the executive director of LIV Golf, Greg Normansaid that between eight and 12 players have been calling him because they want to join the new team that will be captained by Jon Rahm after the signing of the Basque player with the multi-millionaire Arab Super League.

“I’ll be honest: Ever since Jon signed with us, I know he’s been inundated with players saying, ‘I want to play on your team, Jon. How can I get that?'” Norman told ESPN. “My phone is blowing up,” he added to the BBC.

Rahm made the leap last week PGA Tour to LIV Golf with a contract whose value has not been disclosed, but is estimated by various sources to be over 500 million dollars.

Norman said the addition of Rahm further validates LIV Golf’s 54-hole format and team competition.

“I think the word is spreading to all the players around the world, even the best players. They love our format, they love our platform, they love the team spirit, the team atmosphere . Honestly, I found it resonated very strongly this year. And, obviously, Jon has been an incredible addition for us,” Norman said.

LIV will begin its third season in Mayakoba (Mexico) from February 2 to 4, 2024. Meanwhile, all eyes are on which golfers will step up to complete the team of Rahm, the reigning champion of August Masters.

“It will create a domino effect, there will be more apples falling from the tree, there’s no doubt about it, because LIV continues to develop,” Gren Norman insisted to the BBC.
