Fernando CarroSpanish record holder of 3,000 obstacles, the winner this Sunday with time 28:23 in 10K Alcobendasa race in which two thousand runners participated and in which three years ago, in 2020, he achieved the then best Spanish record for the distance with a time of 27:46.
After a summer away from competition for health reasons, Fernando Carro is trying to recover the good feeling that accompanies him in road races and returns to Alcobendas with the aim of getting close to the 27:46 of 2020, which surpassed by Mohamed Katir’s 27:18, ten kilometer national record obtained in 2022 San Silvestre Vallecana.
In this edition, Fernando Carro stopped the clock in 28:23, nineteen seconds less than Uruguayan Nicolás Cuestas (28:42). Rodrigo Mendoza was third (29:05).
In the women’s category the victory went to Clara Viñarás with 34:07ahead of Ivana Zagorac (34:11) and Tania Álvarez (35:17).
The 10K Alcobendas is one of the fastest races in Spain due to its downhill profile that exceeds the maximum allowed by the regulations, something that prevents accredited times from being considered records and necessarily being classified as the best distance mark. The circuit, with a favorable gradient of 99 meters, is approved by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation.
In 2022, Marta Pérez from Soriano confirmed the immense goodness of the route by clocking 15:04 in the fifth kilometer, which helped her to name the best Spanish mark of all time, which is still valid also.
