This Thursday, Roma was the first team to position itself after the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) on the Super League project, a competition that the Roman club will not support.
“Following today’s decision by the European Court of Justice in the Super League case, Roma reiterates its position regarding the values and future of European football. The club does not support in any way any project of the so-called Super League, which represents an unacceptable attack on the importance of the national championship and the foundations of European football,” the ‘gianlorosso’ team said in an official statement.
“Roma believes that the future and well-being of European football can only be guaranteed by the joint work of the clubs through the ECA, in close cooperation and collaboration with UEFA and FIFA,” he added.
In this way, Roma is the first Italian team to speak and join the rejection of other European teams such as Bayern Munichhe Manchester United or the Atlético de MadridBesides others.
The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) considered this Thursday that FIFA and UEFA mandate the prior authorization of club football competitions, such as Super League, violates Union Law.
