Tsitsipas’ trouble to start the season

After today, Greece closes group B with 0-1 and is obliged to beat Canada this Wednesday in the eliminator that closes the group. If they do so, there will be a triple tie (1-1) and one of the series will have to use the number of sets won at home.

The teams from Poland and Australia were the first to be confirmed in the quarterfinals on Mondayafter Spain and the United States were eliminated respectively in the group stage on the fourth day of the tournament.

In the case of the Polish team, they started by losing their cross when Hubert Hurcakz fell against Alejandro Davidovich 3-6, 6-3 and 6-4. For its part, Australia also managed to prove its classification after winning the doubles Matthew Ebden and Storm Hunter defeated Jessica Pegula and Rajeev Ram 6-3 and 6-1.

Earlier, Alex de Minaur defeated Taylor Fritz 6-4 and 6-2 while Pegula herself defeated Ajla Tomljanovic 7-6 and 6-3 to level the head-to-head match. Along with the United States, the Great Britain team was also eliminated from group C.

Additionally, on the fourth date, matches corresponding to groups D and F were played.. In the first of them, France topped Germany by taking Caroline García and Édouard Roger-Vasselin in a very close doubles match against Angelique Kerber and Alexander Zverev (7-6, 2-6 and 12-10).

Before, Zverev eliminated Adrian Mannarino (4-6, 6-4 and 6-3) and Kerber lost against García (1-6, 6-2 and 6-2).

Regarding group F, the doubles will also be decided in Croatia-Norway. The Nordics took it with Ulrikke Eikkeri and Casper Rudd beating Donna Vekic and Ivan Dodig (6-2, 3-6 and 10-7). In singles, Vekic won against Malene Helgo (7-5, 3-6 and 6-3) and Rudd against Borna Coric (6-4 and 6-1).

This way, there are still two days of the group stage to play. Also on Tuesday, Croatia will play the Netherlands and the Czech Republic will play Serbia. while on Wednesday France will do it in Italy and Greece in Canada.
