6-1. Juventus power return

Date:

Juventus reached the quarterfinals of the Italian Cup, where they will face Frosinone, after a strong comeback, responding to Federico Gatti’s early gift to Salernitana, who surrendered without the ability to respond to the leadership of Federico Chiesa’s party.

Juventus ended up scoring six goals against a Salernitana team committed to leaving last place in the League. With nine changes in Filippo Inzaghi’s eleven, he found a gift as soon as the match started. As the first minute was about to expire, Gatti’s inexplicable pass into the middle of the defense turned into an assist. He called a foul on Legowski when he was caught but his pass was pounced on by Ikwuemesi to break up the play.

Despite the initial bravery of Salernitana, who had the second with a shot from Zambia, Juventus’ reaction soon came. With Chiesa putting the team behind him, doing the rest of the play and creating dangerous actions.

On 12 minutes Miretti equalized, coming from the second row to take advantage of Cambiaso’s header, and on 35 minutes the score was restored by Massimiliano Allegri’s team. Cambiaso, left-footed, at the far post, took advantage of a long ball after a corner kick, restored composure.

They played what Rabiot and Chiesa wanted. Only Fiorillo’s stops prevented the loss in the first period, especially the brilliant one against Miretti with the saves down the stretch. They could do nothing in the second period, with ‘Juve’ enjoying their superiority against a rival who ended up lowering their weapons and using their energy.

From a brief change of pace and an instantly measured cross from Chiesa came the third, as Rugani scored with delight on the goalkeeper’s rebound from Milik’s header. Chiesa deserved the goal before the break to improve his game, but they came in brilliantly in the latter stages.

Salernitana had already scored the fourth with an own goal, when Bronn could not control himself and sent Fiorillo’s rebound into his goal after Yildiz’s action, when the young Turkish pearl brought the crowd to their feet. He received near the left side, launched a tunnel, a cut and specified in an unstoppable dry shot. Weah was not far behind with a lash from 30 meters which came in after driving powerfully over the crossbar at the end of Juventus’ celebration of a peaceful comeback to reach the quarterfinals.
