Russian Andrey Rublev, first seed, overcame a bad start and qualified for the final of the Hong Kong tournament, an ATP 250 on hard courts, beating Chinese Juncheng Shang 4-6, 6-2 and 6- 3.
Rublev dropped the first set to the tournament sensation, an 18-year-old player who has lost eleven of fifteen matches on the professional circuit but reached the semifinals in Hong Kong after eliminating Laszlo Djele, Botic Van de Zandschulp and Frances Tiafoe. Russian is an insurmountable obstacle.
The fifth player in the world, Andrey Rublev will play in the 24th final of his career, where he has won fourteen. Last season he played four and won two titles, both on clay, in Bastad (Sweden) and Monte Carlo.
Finnish Emil Ruusuvuori, who defeated Austrian Sebastian Ofner 4-6, 7-5 and 6-3, will be his opponent. For Ruusuvuori, 37th in the world ranking, this will be his second final on the ATP circuit after the one he played in Pune (India) in 2022. He lost in three sets to Portuguese Joao Sousa.
