Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov won the ATP in Brisbane, in the category 500 and played on a hard surface, after defeating the Danish Holger Rune, first seed, in the final by 7-6 and 6-4 in two hour and nineteen minutes of play ..
Dimitrov, who started the match as the second seed, took advantage of the only breaking point of the match, in the seventh game of the second set. The other eleven, three in favor of Rune and eight in Bulgarian, were avoided by the servers.
So, in the first set, neither of them gave up when it came to playing the ball. That led to a tie break that swung in Dimitrov’s direction as he started 0-3 up with two breaks. Despite this, it took three set points to finally achieve it.
In the second part of the match, the third game was a good battle with Rune solving up to three break points against him. He couldn’t do that in the seventh, when he finally gave up his serve to a rival who ended up in a big profit.
In this way, Dimitrov won his first title since winning the ATP Finals in 2017. Since then he has played in three finals, one in 2018 and two in 2023, all of which ended in defeat.
