The book of condolence dedicated to Franz Beckenbauer and displayed in the Residenz, one of the emblematic buildings in the center of Munich, it will remain open until Friday at five o’clock in the afternoon so that citizens can write their messages concerning the greatest legend of German football.
The first message in the book is from Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder, who calls Beckenbauer “something of a football god.” The Residenz is the chosen place for other condolence books from well-known personalities such as Pope Benedict XVI or Queen Elizabeth II.
Beckenbauer’s condolence book is in front of the altar of the Residenz chapel on a table where there is also a black and white portrait of the ‘Kaiser’ and next to it are the flags of Germany, Bavaria and the EU.
