The reVoltaa women’s day event associated with Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, extends to third edition with a circular route of 97.1 kilometers based in the town of Sant Cugat del Vallès of Barcelona and an international platoon of 83 cyclists.
The most important event in Catalonia’s women’s cycling calendar will return to Sant Cugat del Vallès for the second consecutive year, with a 97.1 -kilometer route that includes steps marking the Alt de Capçuda (third category) and the High of Creu (first category).
The main new thing is the participation of Codifis Women’s Teamin its first year as the UCI Women’s Continental Team, with a team of four young cyclists: Canadian Gabrielle Pilote-Fortin, French Cédrine Kerbaol -second on the Brittany Ladies Tour 2022- and Olivia Onesti, and German Clara Koppenburg, winner of Valencian Cycling Week 2019.
The Massi-Tactic Women’s Teamthe only Catalan squad in the elite with four years of experience as a UCI team, will have ten players on the starting line and hope placed, in particular, in the fourth classified in the last edition of reVolta, Mireia Benito.
The Galician Farto-BTC teamwith eight participants, will complete the presence of the Spanish UCI team, although the race will include the participation of many of the Catalan cyclists competing at the highest level.
This is the case of elite Spanish Cup champion Patricia Ortega (Sopela Women’s Team), 2021 Catalan champion Iris Gómez (Bizkaia-Durango), Sílvia Zúñiga (Eneicat-RBH Global) and Elisabet Escursell (Bepink).
On the whole they will be 83 cyclists will start this Sunday morning in Sant Cugat del Vallès, with Spanish teams Zaaf Cycling Team, Catema.cat, Tot-net Terrassa, Barcelona Pista Club Esportiu, Kiwi Atlántico-Louriña and the Colombian San Mateo Procycling in contention.
The winner will take over the list of North American reVolta winners Lauren Stephenswinner of the first edition of 2018, and the Norwegian Katrine Aalerud (Movistar Team), who won the sprint in 2021.
