Ralf RangnickAustrian coach, hoping to recover David Alaba for European Cup which this summer will be held in Germany. The central defender was injured about five weeks ago in the first half of the match played by Real Madrid against Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabéu (4-1).
Rangnick is optimistic, although he doesn’t want to take anything for granted. “Talking to him on the phone was very nice and very confident,” said the Austrian coach to ‘ORF’ in the context of the Ski World Cup races in Kitzbühel. However, he clarified that “certainly his participation will not be decided until the end.”
Alaba, 31, tore his cruciate ligament in mid-December. For the former Bayern Munich player, participating in the Euro Cup (from June 14 to July 14) will be a race against time. On Saturday the Real Madrid player was in Innsbruck to have his knee checked and on Sunday he met Rangnick in Kitzbühel. “I think he’s on the right track,” the coach said.
