On Saturday, Serie A experienced yet another chapter of racism. In this case it was in a match with Friuli in between Udinese and Milan where some local fans insulted Mike Maignanthat they called a monkey, and he even left the game in four minutes.
This Sunday, the French goalkeeper made a very harsh statement about the incidents that took place during the match and pointed the finger at the rival club, ensuring that “He just talked about an interruption of the game, as if nothing happened, he was an accomplice.”
Not long after that Udinese in issuing his reply to Careful and for the incidents that occurred, take sides because it cannot be different from the purpose of Milan and showing that they are against any kind of racist act. Here is the full statement:
“Udinese Calcio deeply regrets and condemns any kind of act of racism and violence. We reaffirm our avoidance of any form of discrimination and express our deep solidarity with AC Milan player Mike Maignan in front of the sad episode that took place last Saturday at our stadium.
Udinese will cooperate with all the investigating authorities to ensure the clarification of the incident, with the aim of using all necessary measures to punish those responsible.
“As a club, we will continue to strive, as always, to promote diversity and integration of all ethnicities, cultures and languages in our players, staff, city and a fan base that always shows fairness. ”
