Disqualified from a marathon for smoking a few cigarettes during the race

He Xiamen Marathon was announced in recent days the disqualification of a veteran Chinese marathon runner, known as ‘Uncle Chen’. The reason is, to say the least, strange: the athlete took the test while smoking.

It was an exercise that ‘Uncle Chen’ usually did on a regular basis. At 52 years old, he is a veteran runner in popular events and has earned the nickname ‘Smoking Brother because he usually does all the racing while smoking a few cigarettes.

In fact, his running style has been at the center of controversy in recent years, but he has never been disqualified until now for his behavior. The ‘Sky News’ runner confirmed that Smoking is one of his tactics to reduce the effects of fatigue when running. It remains to be seen if this disqualification sets a precedent and forces him to change his strange habits.
