Aston Villa destroyed Sheffield and put themselves in the Champions League

Date:

Aston Villa were a steamroller on Saturday against Sheffield United, a puppet in the hands of Unai Emery’s side who scored and dominated from start to finish in the match played at Bramall Lane. The ‘villains’ won by a resounding and deserved 0-5, a comfortable victory that allowed Emery’s team to climb to fourth place in the standings, in the Champions League position.

With Saturday’s superb victory, Aston Villa, fourth in the table, have 46 points, the same as Arsenal, third, and Manchester City, second, pending Sunday’s great game against leaders Liverpool in Arteta’s team. While Sheffield sank to the bottom of the Premier after the harsh correction received.

Aston Villa did not lose a hair as before the first half hour they were winning 0-4 against a Sheffield team that was outmatched in every respect. The start of the match was intense and in the 10th minute the home team managed to bite first with a counterattack that Ben Brereton was unable to finish. A mirage because two minutes later the ‘villains’ started the recital. Mc Ginn opened the scoring after catching a ball that bounced off the post from Watkins’ shot (12′).

Four minutes later, in the 16th minute, Watkins, a star and man of the match, scored the second after a great assist from Douglas Luiz. And Bailey joined in the celebrations by making it 0-3 in the 20th minute with a well-placed left-footed shot.

Tielemans also wants to be part of the storm. In the 29th minute he warned with a bitten volley and a minute later he made it 0-4, which unleashed fury in the stands, leaving many fans on the field, tired of seeing the ‘ ligo’ that their team welcomes. The first half hour for Emery’s team was brutal, massive.

After the restart the visiting eleven did not slow down and made it 0-5 with a volley from Álex Moreno thanks to the help of a superb Watkins, omnipresent late.

With their ‘little hand’ in the bag, Emery’s team took their foot off the accelerator and Sheffield looked desperate for the winning goal. In the 77th minute he stroked it but ‘Dibu’ Martínez managed to make two consecutive stops. It wasn’t until the last breath that there was movement as it was in stoppage time that former Parakeet ‘Vini’ Souza scored an acrobatic goal, but it was annulled at the request of VAR due to Robinson’s offside helping him.
