Ana Carrasco will start in 2024 to debut in cars

Date:

Ana Carrasco (Chegín, Murcia, 1997), Supersport 300 world champion and participant last season in Moto3, he will start the competition in 2024 on four wheels, making his debut in cars once he overcomes his serious injuries to the lower tibia and fibula of his right leg at the end of last year .

A “alternative” for the future he is studying with EFE and he will enjoy the days before announcing what his plans are with a motorcycle for 2024.

“I’m pretty good. The injury was pretty bad, at the end of the year without finishing the season… it was complicated by missing five races, I did everything to go to Valencia, the last year, but it wasn’t possible. At first the recovery seemed a little faster, but it took longer than I expected. I’m fine, the training is normal. There is almost no discomfort and the important thing is that I am fine”commented to EFE about the recovery from his injury.

“I didn’t touch a motorcycle until the beginning of the year. Last week I rode in Catalonia with 600 and the sensations were good. I don’t have many discomforts, my mobility is fine… it is allowing me to have a more or less normal preseason. At the level of physical preparation, I’m a bit limited in running, for example, but I’m okay,” he added.

An Ana Carrasco to say goodbye to the Moto3 category for 2024, but before confirming his plans, something that will happen “soon”, he has a new challenge ahead: making his debut competing in cars; and he will do so in Jerez, in TCR Spain, this weekend.

“This is an opportunity that appeared quite unexpectedly. I always have the subject of cars in mind. It could be a good opportunity after finishing my racing career in motorcycles. Now I have the opportunity with TCR Spain to will race this weekend and I’m really looking forward to it. I did a private test at TCR Spain and I feel good,” he told EFE.

“I’m so excited”

“I am very excited. As I used to like cars, I had a competition kart, a few years ago I tried a Formula 4… they have been prompt contacts. A few weeks ago I was in the TCR Spain car in Montmeló and I felt good”he added.

“Now it’s time to be with other people and see my level, see what I need to learn and take advantage of this opportunity if it happens in the future to repeat or do another career”complete.

A step from two to four wheels where he knows a lot of difference.

“The only thing similar is the speed. Everything else is very different. The way you work with the team, the methods… are things you have to adapt. In cars the track is narrower and in a race the issue of overtaking will be more complicated, looking for contact… it’s about adapting and learning because for me it’s a good opportunity,” he said.

A chance thinking above all about the future and expanding his competitive sports career beyond motorcycling.

“The sports career on motorcycles seems short for us. It is difficult to see drivers like Rossi who have stretched their racing career so far. And even he is now racing cars. The risk is less than riding a motorcycle, you suffer less physically… it’s an alternative to four or five years to stop competing on a motorcycle,” he commented. EFE
