The young men’s basketball team wins the league title in a lively final against Molina
In a thrilling final against Autocares Molina, the pre-baby team of Santo ngel Basketball Club, coached by David Meléndez, was yesterday declared champion of the competition of the Basketball Federation of the Region of Murcia. The final return game was played at the home of the champions, the Laura Gil Sports Pavilion in the Santo Ángel neighborhood, and finished 55-45. To this title come the runner-up of the CB Santóngel in the youth category, which was also decided yesterday, and the third place of the senior team in the First National (FP Amusal Santóngel). This concludes a fruitful 2021-2022 academic year in which competitions returned to normal following the restrictions imposed by the Covid pandemic.
The Municipal Auditorium hosted the 20th Santomera Sports Gala on Friday evening, which recognized the good work of the more than 150 people, teams, clubs and entities that achieved the greatest success during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons. Among the recognitions of the regional and national champions, those awarded to swimmer Diego Mira, who was recently declared double absolute champion of Spain in the 100 and 200 meters backstroke, and to the Santomera Rhythmic Club, for their countless victories in regional and national championships stand out: the top prizes went to Carolina Alemán Pedro (best athlete), José Verdú Nicolás, ‘Toché’ (best career), STV Management (collaborative company), El Limonar Tennis Club (promotion and dissemination of sports), Patricio Gomariz Franco (promise) and Iván Muñoz Pereñíguez (sports achievement).
