Stability in service and opportunism in others at the right moment lead the Frenchman Ugo Humbert to beat the Spanish in solvency Alexander Davidovich to reach the semifinals of the ATP 250 indoor tournament in Marseille.
It was the first semifinal of 2024 for the Frenchman, who won 6-1 and 6-4 in one hour and nine minutes. Humbert, twenty-first in the ranking and fourth favorite in Marseille, is aiming for his fifth title, the first of the current year.
Davidovich, for his part, stayed in the quarterfinals, his best record of the season after losing in the second round of the Australian Open and winning two matches at the United Cup. He always beat Humbert until now. In Estoril in 2021 and last year in Montpellier.
Humbert, fourth seed, will play in the semifinals with the winner of the match between Polish Hubert Hurkacz, first seed, and Czech Tomas Machac.
