The fact that makes the Second Division day historic

Date:

The day of LaLiga Hypermotion which ended this Monday in a clash between Valladolid and Albacete in the Pucelano terrain (0-0) closed a weekend historical for the silver category of our football. The number of goals scored by the 22 teams in the category in their 11 matches was reduced to just 10.

But it’s more than that very little directorial production (in only two matches there was more than one goal and three ended without the scoreboard moving), what made the 26th matchday of LaLiga Hypermotion historic was that for the first time since the birth of the second category of Spanish football neither visiting team scored a goal. Leganés, Elche, Huesca, Oviedo, Espanyol, Tenerife, Andorra, Mirandés, Zaragoza, Racing Ferrol and Albacete, the eleven visiting teams, failed to penetrate the opposing goals on one occasion.

According to AS newspaper, this situation did not happen in Second since 1934, although on that occasion they only ten the teams that played in this category and therefore, five matches per day, less than half of those now.

And according to another source, in this case 2010@MisterChip, at First division nothing like this has been seen since then April 1976. It is, in fact, in 30th day of the 1975-76 campaign, in a league with 18 teams and therefore, nine games per day. And this is the fourth time that one day in the top category was left blank in terms of goals from the visiting teams.

The first is on the 21st day of the campaign 1963-64the second to the sixth of 1964-65 and the third, in the twentieth of 1968-69. In three cases, there are 16 teams participating in the First Division, which means eight games are played each day.
