While waiting for Alcaraz’s debut, Wawrinka was knocked out after almost three hours

The Serbian’s rival in the quarterfinals will be Facundo Díaz Acosta (87), who defeated Francisco Cerúndolo (22) in the home duel, the best of his country in the ranking, and the fourth favorite in Buenos Aires.

Díaz Acosta defeated Cerúndolo 7-6(3) and 6-0 in one hour and 39 minutes of play.

The round of 16 games will be completed this Thursday. Italian Andrea Vavassori (152) will face Serbian Laslo Djere (35), Argentine Federico Coria (106) with British Cameron Norrie (20), Carlos Alcaraz (2) with Argentine Camilo Ugo Carabelli (134) and his compatriot Sebastián Báez (30) with the Italian Luciano Darderi (76), new winners in Córdoba.
