The defending champion, the Swedes’ Rosberg X Racing (RXR) team Johan Kristoffersson and Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinskywon the first race of the opening round of the 2024 Extreme E championship this Saturday, the Desert X Prix, which was debated in Jeddah.
RXR achieved an amazing victory by winning a fierce battle with the Spanish NEOM McLaren Extreme E team Cristina Gutierrez and the swedish Mattias Ekström. In a race where there were many lead changes, Kristoffersson and Åhlin-Kottulinsky took the victory by beating the Spanish-Swedish duo by just 167 thousandths.
E.ON Veloce Racing’s Swede Kevin Hansen and Australian Molly Taylor completed the podium, along with the Spanish’s Acciona Sainz XE Laia Sanz and Fraser McConnell fourth after the Jamaican’s rollover on the rather tight interior on the last lap of the Grand Final when they were fighting for third place.
This Sunday the Desert X Prix continues with the second round of the tournament’s opening event.
