The Zurich Marató Barcelona is preparing to experience its 45th edition in 20,000 runners from all over the world. The event in Barcelona reached the third best number of entries in its history and hung the sign of gone there are still two weeks before the exam, which will take place on March 10.
This is the highest number of participants in the last 5 editions, putting it very close to the record of 20,385 registrations that started in 2016.
Among the new features that the 2024 edition will offer are the new tourwhich is presented as faster, central, monumental and energetic.
The new layout will be flat and faster than ever in the history of this race, reducing the positive difference accumulated in relation to the previous circuit by more than 30 meters.
With these improvements, the organization aims to achieve new race records, currently held by the Bahraini Marius Kimutai (02h05:06) and the Ethiopian Zeineba Yimer Worku (02h19:44), winners of the last edition.
In addition, it seeks to highlight Barcelona’s architectural heritage, up to 15 emblematic sites such as the Arc de Triomphe, the Sagrada Familia, Plaza Cataluña, the Ciudadela Park and the Columbus Monument, among others.
