Italian Vittoria Guazzini won the GP Samyn sprint

Date:

The Italian Vittoria Guazzini (FDJ Suez) is the winner of the 13th edition of the GP Le Samyn contested between Quaregnon and Dour with a route of 114.8 km, in the final where, in a sprint between 5 runners, he is the strongest.

Guazzini (Pontedera, 23 years old) achieved two third places in Le Samyb, but this time he measured his strength perfectly to impose the law of the fastest at the finish line. She won in a time of 2h.04.14 ahead of the Finnish champion Anniina Ahtosalo (Uno-X Mobility) and the Austrian Christina Schweinberger (Fenix Deceuninck).

In sixth place was Frenchwoman Aude Biannic, from Movistar, who jumped from the group without the option of reaching the race leader.

It was the fourth victory for the transalpine runner, hero of a good escape of the day, although he was in danger in the last kilometers due to the closeness of the peloton.

On the route, the hardness is concentrated in the final circuit, which has to be completed in 4 laps, with the elevations of the Cota de Nonettes (0.3 km at 3.2 percent) and La Roquette (0.5 at 3, 1) as points of interest

Three runners escaped the circuit: the Dutch Karlijn Swinkels (UAE) and Anneke Disjkstra (VolkerWessels) and the Finnish champion Anniina Ahtosalo (Uno-X Mobility), joined 5 from the finish line by the Austrian Christina Schweinberger (Fenix Deceuninck ) and Vittoria Guazzini.

An alarming income for a platoon confident that the possibility of canceling the adventure has disappeared. DSM pushed hard in the chase to promote the sprint for the Dutch Charlotte Kool, but could not cancel a 30-second difference that the breakaways managed to save.

Guazzini replaced her compatriot Marta Bastianelli, winner in 2023, in the winners’ table.
