Here’s how the F1 World Championship ranks at the Bahrain GP: Red Bull gives nothing away to the rest

Date:

The first race of the 2024 Formula 1 season left the same classification as last year’s finish in terms of the top two. And it was that Verstappen left nothing for his rivals and led every lap of the Bahrain GP and scored the fastest lap point and put 26 points in his locker. Checo Pérez, last year’s runner-up, finished behind him.

Carlos Sainz was third overall after signing off on a fantastic podium at the start of last season wearing Ferrari colours. So far he has 15 points, three more than Charles Leclerc.

As for Fernando Alonso, the loot he took from the Sakhir circuit was more difficult than first expected but Mercedes and McLaren squeeze higher speeds all the time than Aston Martin. In the end, number nine, he got two points.

So, the classification looks like this after the first GP of the season:

Classification of F1 World Championship 2024 after Bahrain GP:

  1. Max Verstappen 26 points
