The captain of PSG, Marqinhos, who has missed the last four games, will not reappear in the team until the end of this month, after the selection period, the club indicated on Tuesday. The 29-year-old Brazilian picked up a thigh injury on February 17 in a match against Nantes and has been out of matches against Rennes, Monaco, Real Sociedad and Reims.
He will also miss Wednesday’s French Cup quarterfinals against Nice or this weekend’s league match against Montpellier, the club said, noting that he has pain in his Achilles heel.
The coach, Luis Enrique, played down the injury, assured that “it is nothing serious” and said that Marquinhos could play against Real Sociedad, but because he is not 100% fit, he preferred not to take any chances. “Up to one hundred percent I will not take any risks, but there is nothing disturbing or dangerous about it,” he said at the press conference before Wednesday’s clash.
The coach has two more defensive casualties, Slovakian Milan Sriniar and Frenchman Presnel Kimpembe, while Spanish forward Marco Asensio continues his recovery work from his right hamstring injury, the club said.
