Athletic opened the doors of Lezama yesterday to visit the first team building, the Iribar Residence and the renovated main building. The red and white club has invested approximately 20 million euros in the implementation of this project which aims to modernize the red and white ‘factory’. Functionality dominates these facilities where every last detail is considered.
The Bilbao club itself manages the detailing of the activities carried out. The building reserved for the first team, which is 3,600 square meters and built on three floors, has spaces for gym, medical examination, recovery, hydrotherapy, training and nutrition, among others. Its inauguration took place in January 2021, shortly after the arrival of the Super Cup trophy in Lezama, after work began in September 2019. This project also includes the urbanization of the area adjacent to training ground 1 and a new stand.
Residence and main building
The works of the Jose Angel Iribar residence are from May 2020 to June 2021. This new building has two floors above ground measuring up to 1,110 square meters and accommodates 29 double rooms and a basement floor of 600 square meters containing facilities and warehouse areas. .
This building is a new annex next to the main Lezama building, containing specific training, recreation and nutrition areas for residents, as well as providing the club with new locker rooms for major teams. of the lower category, a gym, medical area, restaurant area and Club headquarters in Lezama.
The complex is completed with the so -called main building, a building of 4,200 rehabilitated square meters and 1,300 new ones built below ground level for parking, technical areas and a press room. Work began in January 2021 and was completed in June 2022.
This renovated building has a covered pavilion (the old one with no stands, enlarged and with old shield), medical and water areas, exchange rooms for Athletic and Bilbao Athletic women and sharing for others, a place for the work of analysts, bar and dining room for private and public use and press room, among other things.
Lezama has eight fields: two natural herbs, another two fiber and four artificial.
