David Ferrer, best tennis player in history without a Grand Slam

David Ferrer is the best tennis player to ever win a Grand Slam tournament, according to readers of the newspaper ‘L’Équipe’who organized online voting on the occasion of the current edition of Roland Garros.

Voting, limited to a pre -selected group of players who are no longer active, received more than 46,000 votes, of which Ferrer received 26.6%, while Argentine David Nabaldian got 16.5 and Chilean Marcelo Ríos 12.65%.

The fifth most voted was completed by Frenchmen Jo-Wilfred Tsonga and Henri Leconte.

Ferrer, whose professional career lasted from 2000 to 2019, is a model of perseverance and In 2013 he reached the Roland Garros final, which he lost to Rafa Nadal. In the same year he reached world number three in the ATP rankings.

He also won three Davis Cups and was a finalist in the 2007 Masters, which he lost to Roger Federer

The newspaper’s newsroom also conducted a vote with a different result, as it prioritized Argentine David Nabaldian.followed by Ferrer, Tsonga, Slovak Miroslav Mecir and, tied for fifth place, Czech Tomas Berdych and Argentinian Guillermo Coria.

Nabaldian, who was active between 2000 and 2013, is considered one of the most classiest tennis players of this century. but also one of the most unlucky, retired early due to injuries.

His biggest success was a 2005 Masters, winning after lifting two sets against a Federer in his tenure. He was a Wimbledon finalist in 2002 and a four -time Grand Slam semifinalist.

He also reached three Davis Cup finals with his national team, though three were defeats for the Argentina team, one against Russia and two against Spain.
