Baptista suffers for Vinicius: “Everything he is going through hurts me”

Date:

Julio Baptista, former Brazilian player of, among others, Real Madrid, Seville and Malaga, admits that everything he experiences “gives him pain” Vinicius Junior, forward of the Madrid team, who this Monday cried at the press conference before the Spain-Brazil when talking about racism.

“Everything that is happening hurts me. All of us who are involved in sports should have a conscience because racism is a matter of education and I think there needs to be more severe and important punishments so that people who do this cannot participate . . in football for a long time. If we do that, football will win,” declared ‘the beast’ on the occasion of the meeting of the Legends of the Spanish National Team this Tuesday in Madrid as Emilio Butragueño, ‘Pirri’ or Abel Resino accompanied by ‘la canarinha’ player.

The former striker, who played forty-eight games with Brazil and score five goals, he advises Vinicius to “continue fighting for their ideals” and stressed that all these actions should be viewed “with a magnifying glass.”

“The advice I give you is to keep fighting for your goals. He is very young who comes from a very humble family and learns many things. I think we must look at these things with a magnifying glass for football to win,” Baptista said, stressing that he believes Spain “is not a racist country.”

“I have been in Spain for many years and I believe that it is not a racist country, but there are still people who behave in a way that is not appropriate in a stadium. “I believe that football is one of the sports meant to unite people and all classes in society and I believe that racism is completely out of place, whether here, in Brazil or anywhere else in the world,” he declared.

Finally, the former Brazilian international reviewed the quarter-final tie Champions who will face Real Madrid with City of Manchesterwhom he referred to as “one of the strongest rivals.”

“They are one of the strongest rivals in the competition and anything can happen and we hope that Madrid will be well and can play a good game. It is difficult who can be the favorite because we are talking about the two best teams in Europe” he concluded.
