Jose Mourinho was removed from Rome in mid-January. A dismissal that came both because of poor results in sports, especially in A series, as well as for his confrontation with several players on the team. A tension that affects performance on the green.
Since then, ‘The Special One’, as he calls himself, has graced many benches, as is to be expected from someone with an extensive career as a coach.
In an interview with Fabrizio Romano, a specialist in the transfer market, the Portuguese left some headlines. ”I’m ready to start over. I don’t need to rest or think as usual happens… I’m prepared. I feel strong and good, I’m really ready. But I don’t want to make a wrong decision. I have to be patient. My goal is to start again next summer”.
”I will always be more than a coach”
The former coach of teams such as Real Madrid, Chelsea, Tottenham and Porto, assured that in some clubs he is more than a coach: ”In some clubs you are a coach, in others you have to be a coach, technical director, communication director, image manager, club defender and players… I want to be a coach. I was a coach at Inter, at Real Madrid, at Chelsea, at Porto. In other clubs I am not a coach.”
On the possibility of teaching in Portugal
‘I opened the door to coach Portugal twice. The first time I was at Real Madrid but Florentino told me: no chance. The second time was in Rome, they fired me after a few months but I don’t regret it because I’m happy for the reason.”.
