Jorge Prado (Gas Gas), current champion, added a new victory in the world championship of the premier motocross category (MXGP) also by winning the fourth test of the season, the Trentino GP (Italy), held at the Pietramurata circuit.
Winner of the first three rounds of the competition, the Galician driver recovered from the problems suffered on Saturday in the qualifying race, where he did not score points due to a broken seat, and this Sunday he achieved third place in the preliminary heat and win the second to get the victory.
In the first race on Sunday Prado started in command. He achieved a new holeshot (the first in the first corner) and led by almost half the expected time, but the Frenchman Romain Febvre (Kawasaki), his great rival last season, and the Slovenian Tim Gajser ( Honda), his main opponent in the current, they caught up with him quite easily.
Februarywho at the beginning of the season had a very poor performance, shot to victory, in the end quite close, ahead of Gajser, while Prado, aware that it was not a question of taking too many risks to keep up with his rivals , maintained the third position without problems.
The second round was different. Prado was once again the fastest at the start and once again took the lead. Febvre tried to do the same, but a mistake prevented him from achieving it and he was left behind. Without their opposition, the Spaniard climbed to victory in the race and the Grand Prix.
Prado won ahead of Dutchman Calvin Vlaanderen (Yamaha), Swiss Jeremy Seewer (Kawasaki), Gajser and Febvre.
“It was a very complicated weekend because of the problems on Saturday and because in the first race I didn’t find my rhythm on a treacherous and very bumpy track. In the second we made some adjustments to the bike with team and everything worked to perfection, I’m very pleased to repeat the victory and remain the leader with great speed and a lot of confidence, we keep striving for more,” said Prado.
The next test will be held on May 5, Portuguese GP in Agueda.
