Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna, recently confirmed in a interview with specialist website ‘GPOne’, that, for a while, the new regulations for MotoGP coming into effect in 2027: “I don’t think we have to wait more than a month, month and a half,” he said.
And for that year, MotoGP is preparing important changes to the regulations, as Ezpeleta confirmed to MD a few weeks ago: “Our proposal: it’s out front and rear devices and very strict aerodynamics, even stricter than the MSMA (Motorcycle Sports Manufacturers’ Association) asked us. And, for the displacement, enough, down to 850cc – currently they are 1,000cc –”.
So, with time to 2027, that seems clear BMW is preparing its arrival in MotoGP. The German manufacturer recently announced its intentions to enter the Motorcycle World Championship and What are the steps to follow to be marked as a builder? (World Superbike, test riders,…).
On arrival of BWM in the MotoGP world championshipAzpeleta said the moment he saw it “It’s very difficult for a new manufacturer to come in before 2027. They’ll do it for 2025 and 2026. Nobody’s going to build a motorcycle with these regulations, since then they can’t race with a 2027 regulation that will be different- different from the current regulation.”but it considers the German brand as a is a candidate to enter the MotoGP world championship once the regulations change: “One thing is possible and another that it can be done. Obviously we have to wait for the new regulations to be published as soon as possible. It is important for other manufacturers to come in and BMW is a very important manufacturer”Azpeleta said.
