Frenchman Sebastien Ogier (Toyota GR Yaris) took victory in the Croatia Rallythe fourth round of the World Championship, by recovering from third to first place after two mistakes in the last stage of the Belgian Thierry Neuville (Hyundai i20) and the British Elfyn Evans (Toyota GR Yaris).
Neuville, who started this final day as the leader for the last four stages, moved up to second, in a corner, just after Evans, who started 4.9 behind the Belgian, suffered a spin.
These two events gave way to Ogier, who took advantage of the situation to take the victory, leading Evans by 9.7 seconds and Neuville by 45.8.
“It was a tough weekend. We knew our starting position would be a problem, but we didn’t give up and we kept the pressure on all weekend. I don’t think I’ve ever had so many moments in a rally, but it’s nice to get the victory for the team,” said Ogier, at the end of the test.
Sebastien Ogier was the fourth different winner of the season after the successes of Neuville in Monte Carlo, Esapekka Lappi in Sweden and Kalle Rovanpera in Kenya.
Neuville continues to lead the World Cup standings with 67 points ahead of Elfyn Evans, second with 61and Frenchman Adrien Fourmaux, third with 46.
