They asked Pedro Rocha to retire

Date:

Last Friday was a very intense day around the Royal Spanish Football Federation. Specifically around the figure of Pedro Rocha, the president-elect because he was the only one to file endorsements, and may be officially proclaimed as the new head of the federation in the coming days. As MD found out, several territorial presidents have asked him to step down and step down as the future RFEF president.

A request that was not made directly to him, but through Rafael del Amo, who is the president of the Management Commission. Navarrese himself took over the position held by Pedro Rocha since August, when Luis Rubiales was suspended by FIFA.

The request, as this newspaper has learned, is not so much based on the division that now exists within the presidents themselves. Let’s not forget that last Wednesday up to nine sent a letter to CSD and FIFA urging them to actively intervene in the RFEF situation. The request hinges on the consequences it could have for Pedro Rocha himself if he decides to continue as president until the next election is called.

They understand that in the coming weeks decisions may be made that will clearly affect them personally. First a possible precautionary suspension from the CSD Board of Directors. Suspension while the TAD file is being processed, which could result in disqualification for Rocha himself. From about two months to a year or even total disqualification. This precautionary suspension will not occur if no federative position is no longer in office. And also for changing the witness to be investigated in ‘Operation Brody’, where the judge’s summons is also pending.

Those close to Rocha did not expect him to resign

In fact, and according to these same sources, it is not excluded that Pedro Rocha ends up adopting this decision, although it is something that the people close to Extremaduran have decided for now. As we have already explained to the MD, only this resignation or the appointment of a Board of Directors at the moment he is appointed president with an immediate call for the election of all bodies, can prevent the nullity of RFEF if the CSD Electoral Commission decides to suspend Pedro Rocha and the Managing Committee.
