The Rafa Nadal Foundation It was awarded the Laureus ‘Sport for Good’ Award for the best charity institution at the Laureus Awards gala held in Madrid. The Rafa Nadal Foundation won the vote of Laureus Academy members against ISF Cambodia, Justice Desk Africa, Obiettivo Napoli, Dancing Grounds and Bola Pra Fente, the other candidates.
The Rafa Nadal Foundation uses sport and education to empower more than 1,000 vulnerable youth in Spain and India. Nadal has won the Laureus World Athlete of the Year Award four times (2011 and 2021), the Newcomer of the Year Award (2006) and the Best World Comeback Award of the Year (2014).
The award was collected by Frascisca Perelló, director of the Foundation and Nadal’s wife, and presented by former Real Madrid players Emilio Butragueño and Raúl González.

Laureus Male Athlete of the Year winner Novak Djokovic said: “I am very grateful to have won my fifth Laureus Male Athlete of the Year Award. The Laureus Awards are special because they represent the recognition of the 69 top athletes who make up Laureus World Sports Academy.
For his part, the Laureus Comeback of the Year Award winner, Simone Biles declared that “winning the Laureus Comeback of the Year Award means the world to me. Arisa Trew received the Laureus Award for Action Sportswoman of the Year. The 13-year-old Australian skate star made history in 2023 by becoming the first female skater to perform a 720 (two full rotations) in vertical skating. He did this at the Tony Hawk Vert Alert in Utah. The host of the event, Hawk, a member of the Laureus World Sports Academy, was the first skater to perform the trick in 1985. This historic feat made her the first female skateboarder to win the Action Athlete of the Year Award .
Groot died became the second wheelchair tennis star, after Esther Vergeer’s success in 2008 and 2002, to collect the Disabled Athlete of the Year Award. De Groot was part of a shortlist of six candidates selected by the International Paralympic Committee.
