Daniel Medvedevwho has so many times expressed his distaste for the world, offered a more optimistic speech on Tuesday at his first press conference in Madrid Masters 1,000.
“Honestly, I feel good. I feel it every year, more and more when I go to clay courts. When I say enjoy, I know that my game is a little more limited than on hard courts in terms of what I can do. If I play a good match on the hard court, I know I will win 90 percent of the matches,” Medvedev said.
“On clay it’s not like that. I would say that every match is 50/50. But I know what we can do. For my part, I have to do what I want and I’m trying to do it and I feel confident I love the city, it’s great, so I’m happy to be back here,” said the 28-year-old Russian, world No. 4.
“I prefer clay. I have good results, good victories, and I feel I can do good things on clay. I want to try to win more tournaments like I did last year in Rome, try to do more great at Rome and Roland Garros and for that I have to play well here in Madrid,” added Medvedev.
