“He resists him, at any time he is careless”

Date:

Two of the most controversial decisions adopted last night Sánchez Martínez in the Seville derby. The first was the penalty for a handball by Lukebakio that was whistled before the break and for which there was no VAR intervention. The second occurred in the 57th minute in an action by Badé where he hit Isco and the Murcian again signaled the eleven meters.

That’s when he received the call from Miguel Angel Ortiz Arias, yesterday in the VOR room in Las Rozas: “José María, I recommend you go see him.” While waiting for the Murcian to come on the monitor, you hear: “This, yes, yes, and then the other one we put in, Six and a Half I think it is.” When it reaches the monitor, the VAR referee’s presentation is as follows: “Jose, you can see the contact on the face. For me it’s a bit slight but I want you to assess it.”

That’s when Sánchez Martínez intervened: “Okay, okay, let it go. Keep going (while still watching the action).” Once seen, he has no doubts: “Okay, I’m going to cancel the penalty and it’s not enough. And I’m going to remove the card.”

Before leaving, Ortíz Arias offers him another image: “Let me do you another favor. It’s waving to him, he’s never careless.” In the background you can hear Sánchez Martínez: “Okay, I will also cancel the card and I will start again with a dropped ball, ball to the goalkeeper.” Ortiz Arías concluded: “Perfect.”
