The British Jake Dixon (Kalex), in Moto2, and the Colombian David Alonso (CF Moto), in Moto3, achieved the best time in their respective categories this Tuesday at the end of the official training for the teams of Motorcycle World Championship within Jerez-Ángel Nieto Circuitafter the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday.
Dixon He set a time of 1:40.394 in the best of the nineteen laps he did around the Andalusian track and, behind him, Thai Somkiat Chyantra (Kalex) took second place, with a time of 1: 40.578, while Italian Tony Arbolino (Si Kalex) was third with a best time of 1:40.605.
In Moto3, David Alonso achieved a time of 1:43.948 in the second session of the day, which was ultimately the fastest, with Dutchman Collin Veijer (Husqvarna) second, with 1:44.273, and Italian Luca Lunetta (Honda) in third position , with a record of 1:44.658.
The Colombian driver described the test as “positive” as he was able to complete “up to three simulations” of the race and highlighted, in statements released by the organization, that “each time” they “understand more about the tires, the driving style and the tuning” of the motorcycle.
Alonso is currently second in the overall Moto3 World Championship classification with 68 points, six behind the leader, Spaniard Daniel Holgado.
After these training sessions, the World Championship teams, both in these categories and MotoGP, will face the fifth qualifying test of the season, from May 10 to 12 at the French circuit of Le Mans.
