Lando Norris’ strong message to his ‘haters’: “I want to say that phrase but it’s copyrighted”

Date:

Lando Norris last Sunday he achieved his first victory in Formula 1 in 110 Grand Prix. Thus he achieved his long-awaited dream of winning a race in the top category of world motorsport, something that, due to mistakes or bad luck, has always eluded him in moments where everything seemed to be in his face.

As in Italy 2021, better than his teammate Ricciardo, made it clear on the radio that he would not attack the Australian from second place and that he would not risk the success of the team to achieve his first victory. In Russia 2021 he was also very unlucky, because after achieving the pole, the rain took away more than possible success. He refused to change a tire and lost control of his car three laps from the end.

Despite being one of the most admired and beloved drivers on the grid worldwide, Lando has heard the nickname given to him by his critics, that of ‘Lando No-wins’, i.e. Lando without a win. In fact, a video recently went viral where a fan shouted at Norris when he would get his first F1 win. A comb was the response at that time to the fan’s laughter and biased question.

And after Miami, he responded with more force and with the energy that comes from achieving a first victory in F1.

After crossing the finish line, Lando Norris did not hesitate to recall the nickname ‘Lando No-wins’ on the radio. “So Lando No-wins, huh? I think it’s over,” he said. And in a press conference he explained it.

His message to the ‘haters’, in full:

“Of course, the people I’m closest to, my team, my engineers, my manager, my coach, my family, those are the people you always take the words as more meaningful. And even who can say whatever they want. I’m always there in favor of that. I don’t need people to like me. They don’t have to support me. I don’t always ask for such things. But yeah, when people doubt me in certain situations… that’s when you want to prove them wrong. You want to go out and prove them wrong. They think they know what they’re talking about and when you prove they don’t, that’s a good thing. So, yeah, this isn’t a dig at anyone. I like to say Valtteri’s phrase “to whom it may concern…”but I said to myself “that’s copyrighted”, so I don’t want to repeat it, “But it’s good to get out there and do my job and show people what I can do.”Norris argued.

Lando remembered Bottas. And Valtteri, after his victory in Russia 2020, launched a powerful message on the radio against his critics: “To whom it may concern, screw you.” Norris doesn’t want it to happen again. He wanted his message to be more personal.
