Porto Alegre continues to be partially flooded by the heavy rains that have hit the south of Brazil since Monday last week. Entire neighborhoods were flooded and the Gremio and Internacional football stadiums, completely flooded, as can be seen in shocking aerial photos that have gone viral for their brutality.
According to the latest bulletin from the Civil Defense, last week’s severe storm left at least 95 dead and 128 missing in Rio Grande do Sul, and another death in the neighboring state of Santa Catarina.
There were 1.5 million victims and almost 400 injured in Rio Grande do Sul, where 80% of the municipalities were affected by the floods.
More than 200,000 people have been evacuated from their homes, while rescue teams, with the support of the Armed Forces, are still working to find isolated survivors.
