Badosa breaks her silence after Tsitsipas divorce: “She reminds me of Dimitrov and Sharapova”

Date:

The last Sunday Paula Badosa announced to her followers the end of her relationship with Stefanos Tsitsipas. After almost a year, the couple decided to separate “peacefully. We have shared a journey full of love and learning, and as friends with great respect for each other we have now chosen to move forward on our own paths,” the Catalan wrote on his Instagram account.

The announcement came a few days after the debut of both at the tournament in Romethe last major event on the circuit before Roland Garros and started in a very positive way for the former world number 2, who debuted with a big victory against the young Mirra Andreeva, one of the players called to dominate world tennis in coming year

After the match, Badosa gave an interview to ‘Tennis.com’ where she has no problem talking about her divorce from Tsitsipas, who she says she continues to reconcile.

“We have a great relationship between us, he is a magnificent person and I wish him the best. I know he is in the same position. Nothing dramatic happened, just life, and we both have the support of our loved ones” commented the Begur player.

“I know we will continue to see each other on the circuit and who knows what the future holds. Our case reminds me of Dimitrov and Sharapova. You are with the right person but at the wrong time. Everyone has their own career, their own problems to face. I have experienced a lot of ups and downs emotionally these past few months and it has been difficult for me. “Sometimes, it’s better to break up despite everything,” declared the former Indian Wells champion, who will play her second round match this Thursday against American Emma Navarro on the last turn of the Pietrangeli court.

This will be a match that represents one more game for Badosa. He was measured against a Navarro who was one of the players of the moment, in great shape and in a growing moment at twenty-two years old. Navarro has established himself in the top 20 in the ranking in what has been a very fruitful year for him. Champion on the hard court in Hobart at the start of the year, he took a step forward in the group of early season tournaments.

Badosa and Tsitsipas began their relationship after ending long courtships with Cuban actor Juan Betancourt and Greek Theodora Petalas, respectively. Paula’s relationship with presenter David Broncano also had an impact.
