Beau Hossler and Robert MacIntyrewith a 64 stroke, seven under par, co-lead after the first round of PGA Tour Myrtle Beach Classic at Dunes Golf & Beach Club (South Carolina). Hossler made one eagle, six birdies and one bogey. The 29-year-old from Texas is no stranger to success on the circuit. The 27-year-old Scottish left-hander, for his part, made eight birdies and one bogey. He also did not win on the American circuit.
One shot behind the Extremaduran are Davis Thompson, Alistair Docherty, Zecheng Dou and Alejandro Tosti Jorge Campillo well placed after carding a 66 stroke to put himself in the top 10.
The tournament will be held sharing a week with the Wells Fargo Championship. The winner earns a spot in next week’s PGA Championship, but not the 2025 Augusta Masters and is not guaranteed a spot in the other two $20 million tournaments.
Campillo (-5) had a very good performance in this tournament debuting on the calendar. He was seventh, two strokes from the head. Another very solid day of golf by the player from Norba (Cáceres) who hit very good irons, like that of Byron Nelson, and this time he was accompanied by the putter.
