Helmut Marko made news a few days ago for suggesting that Adrian Newey I can sign for Aston Martin with Fernando Alonso to create a winning car for 2026: “What color do I see Newey wearing in the future? I think the red (Ferrari) slightly contrasts with the dark blue (Red Bull). But I think everything is possible in a great green color (Aston Martin)”. All this, after ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ confirmed that the signing of Adrian Newey, the best engineer and car creator in F1, is about to be announced by Ferrari.
However, Helmut Marko himself retracted and made sure that his words were misinterpreted. “It’s not easy, but the most experienced person in F1 will not be with us anymore. And I’m afraid he will be with a rival team”he declared on the portal grandprix.com.
“Obviously, it was a misunderstanding. I prefer to bet on red”he said in relation to his words and the possibility of Newey signing for Aston Martin.
It should be noted that the ‘F1 guru’ assured that he still has no future plans and that he may take some time away from F1 to recharge his batteries. Although everything seems to indicate that his future is with Ferrari as the icing on the cake of Fred Vasseur’s team to create a champion car that will return Ferrari to the top with the new regulations in 2026, with Lewis Hamilton in steering wheel with the possibility of achieving something historic : his eighth crown, and on top of it, dressed in red.
Marko downplays Newey’s departure
Furthermore, Marko emphasized that Adrian’s departure should not be a problem in the creation and design of the cars of the coming years for Red Bull: “it does not mean that we will have a technical breakdown because of this . Now we have to focus on the World Cup and get the team back to normal.”
Improvements for Red Bull at Imola
Like most teams, Helmut Marko has ensured that Red Bull will also bring new parts to Imola. In that sense, he is not worried about the step forward that McLaren seems to have taken with the big package of improvements that was presented in the previous race in Miami.
“I am not worried about the championship, because Lando Norris is more than 50 points away. We will also bring an update to Imola and I expect a lot from it. But Miami shows that we have to concentrate on the sporting aspect “concludes the ever-controversial advisor to the energy drinks group.
